The city is not at all like what you might picture when you think of a Greek town. Several earthquakes in the 1950s leveled much of the island, including Lefkada’s historic district. A few buildings, such as the church of Agios Spyridon, which dates back to the seventeenth century and survived the earthquakes, are worth seeing.
The Waterfalls: Awe-Inspiring
The Nidri waterfalls, also known as Dimosari, are widely regarded as the most stunning in all of Greece.
The Nidri waterfalls are around 12 meters in height, and their waters are extremely cold, particularly in the winter. Surrounded by lush vegetation, they can be found tucked away in a gorge on the fringes of the Nidri hamlet. On a warm day, they provide the perfect respite.
Agia Mavra’s Castle
The impressive Agia Mavra Castle may be found near the bridge that links Lefkada to the rest of mainland Greece. The extraordinary building, which dates back to the fourteenth century, combines Italian and French styles.

Visit the stunning Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni while in Lefkada. In 1634, a chapel was constructed on top of a Greek temple to Artemis, the goddess of hunting. If you are interested in antique Byzantine icons and holy documents, you can visit the Ecclesiastical Museum located within the monastery.
As the island’s most revered religious structure, this picturesque monastic complex may be found in the little town of Frini, high above the capital of Lefkada with its stunning panoramic vistas.
Porto Katsiki Beach
Porto Katsiki, about 45 kilometers south of Lefkada Town, is the island’s most well-known beach due to its stunning exotic scenery.
The stunning expanse of sand and pebbles is framed by towering, precipitous cliffs that serve as the area’s defining physical feature.
Although cars can travel to Porto Katsiki, the easiest method to get there is by boat. This famous beach still has some peaceful spots, making it ideal for families. The ocean is a beautiful blue, but it may be dangerously deep, even near to shore.
