On my holidays on the island I stayed at the AGADA hotel, which opened this summer and was a paradise on earth in Ano Meria.
Apart from the gorgeous room I stayed in, the thing that impressed me the most and is the reason why I would return again, is the quietness. I enjoyed my breakfast on the sun lounger by the pool, all I could hear was the birds singing.
It’s worth mentioning that they have set up nests for the birds at the hotel.
AGADA has nine studios and suites. I stayed in the Infinity Suite with a large outdoor area and pool, which is designed to resemble a beach… in the mountains. The view is breathtaking as the sky meets the sea and when the weather is nice you can see the Cyclades islands across the way.
The room hosts three people, has a fully equipped kitchen, a Yin-Yang like bathroom, a living room with a large sofa and a huge bed for comfortable sleeps.
We were greeted at the hotel by the owners, who were kind and willing to help us with anything we needed. Mrs Alexandra gave us a guide to the island and included everything you need to know about Folegandros.
Their hospitality was unforgettable and it is a place I would undoubtedly return to again to enjoy my holiday.
Where is AGADA
AGADA hotel is located in Ano Meria, near the Folklore Museum of Folegandros. Around you will find several restaurants to eat, bakeries, cafes and mini markets.
There may be several shops nearby, but in the rooms of AGADA the silence prevails, you don’t hear noise neither from the shops nor from the street.
AGADA is a few kilometers from Chora. In 5 minutes by car you can be in Chora and enjoy your walk and the sunset.
A short distance away is Agali beach, from where you can take the boat to Agios Nikolaos beach and Livadaki beach.
The idea behind AGADA
AGADA hotel is a family business. The owners have created stunning cavernous rooms, in harmony with the local environment and the wild beauty of the island.
Their aim is to contribute to the sustainable development of the local community, but also to offer guests a unique experience in the A+ energy class tourist accommodation complex based on local architecture.
Having preserved, as much as possible, the natural relief of the terrain, they built cave dwellings in the places indicated by the morphology of the hill, but also stone buildings overlooking the Aegean Sea and the surrounding islands of the Cyclades.
Their particular design, combined with the planted dormers with vegetation from the surrounding area and the openings to the terraces, give visitors the feeling of being part of nature while still being inside the house. They harmonize with the environment and gain a unique wellness experience.
Whether during breakfast in the private pool with infinity view, or in the evening enjoying dinner, every moment of the day is an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
