MALLORCA

Mallorca is a magical destination in Spain. It’s one of my favorite places, even though I hadn’t the chance to explore it as much as I wanted. I even imagine myself to love there.

It’s a beautiful place. Streets full of palm trees and crystal waters. It’s the perfect summer destination.

Mallorca is the biggest island in the Balearic Islands. Along with Ibiza it’s one of the most popular tourist destinations. Unfortunately I only had two days there, so I couldn’t explore the whole island, only the capital, Palma de Mallorca.

How to go to Mallorca

There aren’t direct flights from Greece, you have to make a stop in Barcelona in order to take from there a flight to Mallorca.

We visited Barcelona first, for four days and our flight was with Vueling Airlines (around 15€ per person) for the island.

You can take the bus or a taxi in order to go to Palma de Mallorca from the airport. Bus ticket costs around 8€ per person, but it’s cheaper for the locals. We used the bus to go to the city and when we wanted to go back, we took a taxi and it was more expensive. It costed around 20-25€ for a 15-minutes route.

Where to stay

Hotel Amic Horizonte

This hotel is located very close to the city center. The room was beautiful with big space and we had sea view. For two nights we paid 118€ and it had extra cost for breakfast, 10€ per person.

The breakfast was very good with so many options, but the dinner hadn’t a big variety of food. It’s better to eat at a restaurant instead of the hotel.

Where to eat

Bar-Cafeteria

(Avinguda de Joan Miró, 186, 07015 Palma)

I don’t know the specific name of the restaurant, but it appears with this name at Google Maps. Even though it’s a small place, it has so tasty food. We tried döner sandwich and fried and they were delicious.

Indico

Opposite of the previous restaurant there is a shopping center. There you will find Indico. It’s an excellent choice if you want to try tapas and street food, such as burgers, hot dogs, etc.

The mall has a wide variety of restaurants, so you have several options to choose.

La Boutique de la Gelato

If you want to try the most tasty ice cream, then you have to go there. It’s one of the most popular places in the area and you will find a crowd, waiting for an ice cream. It’s quite affordable, especially for the prices of the island.

What to see in Mallorca

The Royal Palace of La Almudaina – Cathedral of Palma de Mallorca

Along the beach you will find these two beautiful buildings. Impressive with awesome architecture. In my opinion the church is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world. You can explore it quickly, it’s not very big.

In front of them, there is a huge fountain. Get upstairs and when you reach the cathedral you will enjoy the most incredible view.

Jardins La Quarantena

A beautiful park, near the port. It opened in 1970 and it took this name because patients with diseases were quarantined there.

Museu Historic Militar de Sant Carles

In front of the port you’ll find this museum. The entrance is free and it has a restaurant inside. Definitely worths a visit. You will learn about the military history of the Balearic Islands. It has rooms with weapons, cannons and other military equipment. It has also a beautiful view.

Av. De Gabriel Roca

Walk along the road next to the harbour with the palm trees around. It’s a very impressive route and undoubtedly a perfect spot to take some shots.

In my opinion, Mallorca is a wonderful place. The best months to visit the island is from May to September to swim on the beaches with their clear blue waters. When I visit it again, definitely I’ll stay more days, in order to explore the whole island.

Ps. Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted the most of the photos of this trips and I couldn’t show more of this place.
