THE 2ND ELIA LESVOS CONFEST 2024 PUTS LESVOS ON THE WORLD MAP OF OLIVE OIL CONFERENCES

The 2nd International Olive Oil Conference – Festival, Elia Lesvos Confest 2024, which focused on olive culture, health, sustainability and the environment, gastronomy, economy, olive tourism and many other topics, was concluded with the full participation and presence of high-ranking guests.

The conference was organized with the support of leading universities, the American Yale and the National Kapodistrian University of Athens.

The aim of the conference was to exchange know-how, practices and experiences about the olive tree, as well as to learn about the beneficial properties of olive oil for both humans and the environment, and brought together leading scientists, businessmen, industry experts, producers, distinguished chefs and olive oil lovers from all over the world to exchange knowledge, experiences and innovative ideas. 

The conference was an “ode” to the olive tree and took place in one of the most productive villages of Lesvos, Papados Geras, at the Vrana Oil Mill Museum.

An excellent olive oil conference was held in which scientific research and knowledge were ideally combined with good commercial practices, effective communication, olive gastronomy, interactive experiences and practical information about the sector. It is worth mentioning that the participation of young people who are active in the sector with appetite and passion, gave us a note of optimism for the future of Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

During the conference, the particular importance of olive oil as a fundamental element of the Mediterranean diet and its influence on health and well-being was highlighted. Particular emphasis was placed on the relationship between olive tourism and local development, with the presentation of successful examples from different regions.

At the 2nd Elia Lesvos Confest 2024, participants had the opportunity to enjoy tastings of extra virgin olive oil varieties from Lesvos, to watch and taste unique recipes with extra virgin olive oil from famous chefs and to learn about the latest trends and developments in the field of gastronomy.

In addition, important issues concerning sustainability, organic farming and the prospects of exporting olive oil to new markets were discussed.

The conference concluded with the ”promise” of cooperation between key players and professionals in the sector, reinforcing the commitment to continuously promote and highlight the culture of olive oil. The greatness of the love for olive oil, which binds Greeks and the whole planet, was highlighted. 

The inspirer of the conference, Mrs. Fotini Tirpintiri said that ”the organization of the 2nd Elia Lesvos Confest was a unique experience of knowledge, development, communication and unbreakable bonds between us.
